Mother's Day Continues

The only thing I am going to say about my eating is that my Mother's Day celebration continued throughout today.

I did go swimming today and felt soooo good. My arms hurt. I can barely lift them over my head. I can't wait to get in the water again. I think swimming is the only exercise I TRULY enjoy.

Mother's Day Weekend

Since it was Mother's Day Weekend, I gave myself the weekend off. The celebration technically started on Friday, and doesn't end until I go to bed tonight. D told me I shouldn't get a whole weekend, but I really think I deserved it. At least in my mind I did.

It all started with Macaroni Grill for dinner on Friday. Lots of carbs and pasta sauce. Saturday morning was good. I ate toast with Almond Butter, and some other stuff that I can't remember now. Definitely clean eating approved though. Lunch was Jack In The Box. Yummy and greasy and not so good for me. Dinner was leftovers from Macaroni Grill.

I woke up this morning and D made me breakfast. We had bacon, pancakes, hash brown, and an Orange Julius recipe I had. Lunch was the kids' leftover PB&J sandwiches. I then made myself some Mother's Day No Bake Cookies. For dinner we had brats, mango, and corn. I am about to go eat another cookie or 2. Hey it's Mother's Day, I can do what I want. Plus, since it's my special day, the calories, sugar, preservatives, and all the other junk I ate, don't count. I get to say what happens today, and I say that brats, cookies, bacon, pancakes, Tang with sugar and milk are all good for you. At least in my world!

Day 4

So I skipped day 3. I was a failure again. I didn't need to see it written out for the 3rd day in a row. I am still a failure, but I did better today than I had in the past.

Here is today's menu.

Breakfast - Carnation Instant Breakfast (I was in a hurry)
Snack - Almonds
Lunch - Top Ramen & Veggie Chips (My worst moment today)
Snack - 2 handfuls of Animal Crackers (Hey, they were organic!)
Dinner - 1/2 Turkey Burger, 1/2 Corn on the cob, apple slices
Snack - Apple Slices

Okay, so I did worse than I thought. Whatever! I am so done with this clean eating stuff. At least for the rest of the night. I'll start up again in the morning.

I still really want to succeed at this. I want to be able to say I stuck with it for 1 whole day, then 1 whole week, etc...

At least J said the burgers rocked and the corn was the best he's ever had. He asked if we were going to have leftovers tomorrow because he really wanted to.

I just complained that his mouth and hand hurt and he couldn't eat. We told him he better because this was the first real meal he'd eaten in a while and he better take advantage of it.

L ate all of his corn and had a blast eating it. He likes to eat all the inside of the apple and leave the skin.

I didn't exercise today. I need motivation!

Day 2

Once again, I am a Eat-Clean Diet failure. Here is my menu for today.

Breakfast - Banana, whole grain bread with Almond Butter
Snack - Veggie Chips shared with L, Animal crackers
Lunch - Didn't really eat lunch
Snack - Green Curry with white rice (I guess this would be lunch, but I ate it really late)
Dinner - Corn Dog, mac & cheese, mandarin oranges (soooo not clean eating)
Snack - 2 Lindt chocolate balls.

I didn't drink all the water that I should, and no exercise for me today!

I am trying to do this. I really am, but the food just isn't very good. I think the whole porridge thing has tainted my view. At least I am being honest about what I am eating.

We'll see how tomorrow goes.

End of Day 1

I am now officially a Clean Eating failure. I tried to stick with it, I really did. One day is just too hard! Here is my menu for today.

A=Approved Eat Clean food
NA =Not Approved

Breakfast - The gagged up Porridge(A)
Snack - Grapes(A), Wheat bread with butter and honey (semi A)
Lunch - Peanut Butter(NA) and pickle(probably NA) sandwich on whole grain bread(A)
Snack -Edam Cheese(NA) on triscuits(NA)
Dinner - Green Curry(A) with white rice(NA)

I just found out that nobody in my family liked the porridge. D rode his bike to work today and the only reason he ate the porridge was because he carried it in his backpack all the way to work. He even tried the honey and tons of sugar trick. He only ate about half of what he took.

J told D that he wished Goldilocks was real because then she could have come and stolen his porridge. I swear he's going to be a comedian when he grows up.

Day 1


A couple of weeks ago I decided to try the Eat-Clean Diet. I bought the book and the cookbook. I went to Henry's and bought a bunch of healthy items, like flax seed, steel cut oats, wheat germ, brown rice, quinoa, bulgur, millet, etc...

Today is officially day 1. I have made some of the recipes before, but today is the day that I am actually going to start following the plan.

It suggests you eat your first meal at 7am. You should first drink 16oz of water and then eat. Last night, I made Crock-Pot Porridge from the cookbook. It was ready for us when we woke up. The smell and the look was not very appetizing, so I added brown sugar for the kids. I added a little bit of honey to mine, but I can't remember if that is a clean eating food or not. I think it is in small amounts and only if it is pure honey or something like that.

I was drinking my water and trying to eat my 1/2 cup of porridge, and I just couldn't get it down. I ate maybe 3 or 4 bites and started gagging. I tried drinking some water, but it didn't help. I thought I was going to throw up! I ran to the garbage and spit it out, but was still gagging. I sat down to finish my water and I & J told me that I had porridge in my water. There were huge chunks. I couldn't figure out if they were from L sharing my water or from me gagging into it.

Great start to day 1!
